Roma returned to the top of the table after defeating hosts Torino 2-0, while Como, who surprised last season with their performances, continued their impressive results by beating visiting Parma 2-1 in the fourth round of the Italian football league on Monday.
Roma, who had not previously started the league with four consecutive victories since 2014, moved to 12 points in first place, maintaining their perfect record after victories over Fiorentina (4-0), Lecce (4-0), and Atalanta (2-1). Meanwhile, Como temporarily moved into second place on goal difference ahead of third-placed Lazio after raising their tally to 10 points.
Defending champions Inter, who are in fourth place, can move level with Roma if they beat visiting Udinese at the end of the evening.
In Turin, Roma owed their victory to the impressive Dutch forward Donyell Malen, who opened the scoring in the 40th minute, before Niccolò Pisilli added the insurance goal in the dying moments.
The first half saw a flurry of missed chances from the visitors before Malen scored Roma’s opening goal, taking his tally to six goals in Serie A since the start of the new season.
The “Giallorossi” continued to dominate at the start of the second half, before their momentum declined after coach Gian Piero Gasperini brought off attacking stars Malen and Argentine Paulo Dybala, before 21-year-old midfielder Pisilli put the game beyond doubt in the third minute of stoppage time.
